Okay, I know that using WASD and Q and E to turn/strafe, or using the numerical keypad to do likewise, marks me as 'Yukienub' to some WoW players, but...uh.
Guys, if I could use the mouse to navigate, I totally would, but there's this little issue with a hereditary benign tremor. For the most part it's a minor annoying little wobble that I can more or less ignore, but some things make it speed up or get more pronounced. The main thing that does that is the Ventolin I gotta take, but other stuff that can really get the shake/rattle/roll going include low blood sugar, stress, too much effing caffeine, exertion or - you guessed it - really finicky sustained-posture-needing motions like mouse turning can require. If I keep my hand and arm in the fairly still position that mouse turning seems to require, my muscles get annoyed and the shakiness gets more pronounced, which can result in a major twitch sending me running facefirst into annoying bats or clean off a cliff.
I can get out of the fire/the green stuff/the puddle of OH MY GOD WHAT'S THAT just fine with the directional keys. I can't guarantee that'll be the case with the mouse. While grabbin' a brewski can slow the tremor way down, it'll also make me want to fall the hell asleep XD
While the shakiness is nowhere near as sucktacular as it was a few years ago when I was a stressmobile, it's still a crappy roommate. (See also: ADD, which doesn't affect me too terribly much except for causing me to exclaim over passing butterflies while I'm beating up mooks XD)
What I mean to say is: yeah, I'm somewhat newbish in ways, but my relying on the keys to turn is not a symptom of that. (Causing hilarious gearLOLWTF in reaction to being eaten by bats when I'm full of benadryl, and then forgetting about these until they're pointed out to me by a v. confused ladyfriend, however? Yeah, that one is newbery at large. Or maybe that's just a symptom of lolsensitive when it comes to antihistamines coupled with ragweed the likes of which had to be cultivated by teh fcuking Scourge attacking my eyeballs when I just wanted to finish the stupid dwarf-rescuing quest...)
Not everyone who turns/moves with the keys is a scrub XD Some of us are just trying to not go flying off cliffs.
Boom shanka,
-Yukie, who has had too much generic cola, whee.
