...But it's shiny. XD
Mar. 15th, 2009 12:37 pmI don't like some of the storyline changes in RE:CoM but IT IS SO SHINY. XD; So I'll ogle and be a giant snipey snipin thing at the sae time!
For example, even if his new VA is quite, um, irritating (to my ear) as compared to Billy Freaking Zane (because that's what the man SOUNDS LIKE in my head - it's hard to get used to a new VA, dangit), Heartless Ansem is damn fun to watch XD And I really like some of the little touches like he and Riku mirroring each others' gestures and so on. Though - HOW THE HELL EXACTLY DO YOU okay let me back this crackmobile up a tick -
FIRST THING: Is that actually Heartless Ansem, or just the memory of him? (If it's the latter - good GORD, that's creepy - hell of a strong vivid recall you have there, Riku.)
SECOND THING: How do you TELL when it's Heartless Ansem and when it's The Cosplayer (with a scarf on his head!)? In the JP script, it's sometimes possible to tell because Cosplayer uses 'kimi' to refer to Riku, but even THAT method isn't totally reliable since H!Ansem's politeness level kind of jumps all over the dang place (becacuse he are insaaaaane) and - yeah. I'm pretty sure it's H!Ansem his swaggery self who Riku meets at first - the guy who pokes the Darkmode Button (don't be perverted, you lechers, you do that by beeping Riku's nose) - because DiZ is adamant and huffy about not using the darkness unless he's really really gotta...
...ARGH WHY IS IT SO AMBIGUOUS XD
LES CONCRETE ANSWERS GA HOSHII, MERCI GOZAIMASU.
...Seriously though, H!Ansem is prehaps one of THE most fun characters to watch because he's so goddamn full of DRAMATICS and he knows it and is unrepentant about it. And Riku is just as bad. And occasionally bounces. (Why would you try to frontal-rush (he does this in the first vid) AGAIN (and then once more later on) when you know he can do that warding thingiee WTFRiku.) And That Armour is still The Silliest Armour Ever.
Goddamn it, now I'm having a fit of Kermit Arms Fan Glee.
One thing I'll say for the new dude - he has a good unsettling creepylaugh. Not exactly 'right' to my mind's ear with regard to how Seeker O'Badassjacket sounds in my brain, but it's not too bad. His delivery is too close to Xemnas, sometimes, I think - he does that sort of drift-thing that's characteristic to his other half and it doesn't quite seem to work, for me. Even when he wasn't corporeal, Ansem wasn't drifty. Just kind of murmury, like he was tired out from traveling. Like I was babbling along before, Xemnas is a stranger, and that's why he's scary. Ansem is possible in your very own heartbits, and that's why HE'S scary. It's the old 'is alienation or familiarity creepier' thing, and in this case, both are.
...Goddammit he's just FUN TO WATCH! Gesturey! And I find the crossed-arms pose interesting, considering that's closed-type body language. If you're being combative it's a 'I have a solid defense; hit me with your best shot, sunny jim,' and if you're being guarded or defensive it's 'back off, I'm not letting you get at me.' But as body language it's classed (to Ms. Jack, a truly awesome drama teacher) as 'closed'. He isn't always doing that - a lot of the time he's very gesticulatey and his body language is open. This seems to happen during his 'come back' speechings at Riku. With his arms spread a little, he's doing this gestural precursor to embracing someone, even if the actual embracing doesn't happen.
And even if the ploygons are somewhat nerfy sometimes, and the texture on his gloves is - dumb, i really like how they animate his hands XD
